Canon launches 2 exciting DSLR's in 6D Mk ii & SL2(200d)

Canon launches 2 exciting DSLR's in 6D Mk ii & EOS SL2(200d)

Let's start with the EOS SL2/(200d) as canon seems to be having a weird naming for 200d as SL2 in the US and the rest of the world gets it as 200d. I bought my 1300d last year which sounds obsolete when you compare it to SL2 which makes it a good upgrade.
EOS Rebel SL2 Front with Open LCD
EOS 200D is the newest addition to Canon EOS DSLR range. This is an entry-level DSLR comes with Dual Pixel CMOS AF, 24.2-megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor and latest DIGIC 7 image processor.
The camera body is designed to provide an enhanced grip and is overlaid with a grain finish.
Canon EOS 200D is equipped with a touch screen LCD monitor that is also a fully articulated screen which allows users to experiment with image compositions from different angles. The combination of Vari-angle LCD monitor and Dual Pixel CMOS AF further enables the EOS 200D to deliver movies in full HD quality at 60p.
With Wi-Fi and NFC connectivity, users can transfer images and videos from EOS 200D to smartphones other device which supports wi-fi/NFC. It comes with a dedicated Wi-Fi button.
The Canon EOS Rebel SL2 camera supports Full HD quality movies at 60p and can produce incredibly smooth moving images for playback, or for sharing videos on social media. Vloggers will appreciate the ease with which it can record quality audio that’s immediately ready for uploading. For even more sophisticated sound recording, the EOS Rebel SL2 has an external microphone input to complement its internal microphone.

Feature assistant :

With its Feature Assistant function, the EOS Rebel SL2 camera helps users take advantage of its advanced features and create impressive photos with ease. By explaining and illustrating the camera’s shooting modes and their effects with sample photos of each mode, Feature Assistant encourages experimentation and provides guidance for creating amazing photographs

Pricing :

Canon EOS SL2 is available in US with a price of  $549 for body only and $699 for included kit lens of 18-55 STM

Now let's get to 6D Mk ii

The Canon EOS 6D Mark II features a 26.2 Megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor (approx. 35.9mm x 24.0mm) designed to create high-resolution and detailed images. Capable of sensitivities ranging from ISO 100 to ISO 40000 (expandable to L: 50 and H2: 102400).
EOS 6D Mark II Front with Open LCDThe 6D Mark II also uses Canon’s ultra-fast Dual Pixel autofocusing system, and the camera now has 45 cross-type autofocus points at its disposal, a step up from the 6D’s paltry 11. It shoots at relatively fast pace of 6.5 frames per second, but there’s a short runway there: the maximum burst is 21 frames for RAW photos, and 150 for JPEGs.
Articulated touchscreen LCD: This is Canon's first full-frame camera that doesn't have a fixed LCD, which is a very useful feature for the 6DMII.
Improved continuous-shooting speed: Up to 6.5fps from 4.5fps, presumably with better autofocus. Autofocus responsiveness and tracking speed should also improve thanks to the new sensor/AF.
6D Mark II is also weather resistant, on par with the sealing found on the more expensive 5D Mark IV, according to Canon. 6D Mk II comes with Wi-Fi, NFC, Bluetooth, and GPS radios.
Pricing :
6 D Mark II is priced at $ 1999 for body only

Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Renders Leaked, Dual Rear Camera Setup Tipped

Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Renders Leaked, Dual Rear Camera Setup Tipped

Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is most anticipated smartphones of the year. After last year’s Galaxy Note 7 recall, Note 8 has to redeem the trust of its customers. The smartphone has been leaked on several occasions in the past, and fresh leaks shows a full blown look of Galaxy Note 8.

Notable leaker @OnLeaks, in collaboration with 91mobiles, has released 360° video renders of Note 8

The main talking point of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will be its dual rear camera setup.
The dual cameras will be placed horizontally and are said to sport independent optical image stabilization. The device will reportedly measure 162.4 x 74.5 x 8.4mm while the thickness will ramp up to 9.5mm at the camera bump. Aside from the dual rear cameras, the camera bump will also house the fingerprint scanner.

The renders also show that Note 8 will continue with Samsung’s dual curved edge Infinity Display design as seen on Galaxy S8. we will get as usual S-Pen, USB Type-C port, and 3.5mm headphone jack.
Note 8 appears more box-like with its more pronounced edges, as opposed to the S8 and S8+ which is curved all around. The display on the Note 8 will be sized at 6.3″. In all probability Note 8 will come with snapdragon 835 in the US & rest of the world will be with Exynos 8895 paired with a 6GB RAM. In all likelihood we will get a smaller battery than note 7 @ 3300mah. It should come with android N out of the box with Samsung's own Samsung experience and equipped with an Iris scanner. Do take all this with a pinch of salt as it is all based on renders and rumours.

Sony XAV AX 100 - Car infotainment system's review

Sony XAV AX 100 - Car infotainment system's review

Sony XAV AX 100 is the latest offering from sony's car infotainment system and it comes with a resistive touchscreen. It includes Apple car play and Android auto which is the reason I bought it for my Ignis and I haven't repented for the purchase. Sony XAV-AX100 comes with an IR wireless remote control and supports compatibility with steering wheel remote adapters

Priced at Rs 26,990 with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility makes it rather affordable

Design :

The Sony XAV-AX100 digital media receiver is equipped with a 6.4" touchscreen with full-color display and responsive touch-sensitive control. The 6.4" touchscreen monitor has a resolution of 800 RGB x 480, just don't expect it to respond like your smartphone. It has a home button, mic, volume dial which can be dubbed as voice button, previous and next button.
In addition to touchscreen control, the Sony head unit features a 3-way rotary dial and push-button control along the left side of the front-panel.  The ergonomic rotary dial makes operation distraction-free. Turn it to control volume, or push the integrated button to launch sound control menus. Alternatively, hold the button to use voice commands.

Pricing

Sony XAV AX100 is priced at Rs 26,990 in India

Android Auto

Thanks to Android Auto, you can connect your Android OS smartphone via a USB cable and operate many of the major functions of your Android phone such as get traffic information, and real-time navigation assistance from Google maps right from the Sony receiver. You can even send text messages, take calls, or check your voicemail through Android Auto. Android Auto also includes voice-recognition technology, so you can control everything just by speaking. Get directions, send messages, make calls, and control music while keeping your hands safely on the wheel.

Apple Car play

All your essential iPhone functions on the road, with Apple CarPlay. Just connect your phone via an Apple-certified Lightning-to-USB cable, and you'll see a familiar interface displayed clearly on the Sony receiver's touchscreen. Simply tap the icons to take calls, check voicemails and text messages, or bring up maps. And of course, listen to your favorite songs using iTunes, Apple Music, or select music apps. Apple CarPlay even lets you talk to Siri to control everything using voice commands and keep your hands safely on the wheel.

Rearview Camera Input:

The Sony XAV-AX100 is equipped with a  rearview camera input to connect a backup camera, you can use the in-dash receiver's touchscreen monitor to see what's behind you when backing up. When a backup camera is connected and you are viewing a rearview image, parking guide lines appear on-screen making parking easy and safer. There are three color-coded horizontal guidelines. The parking guide lines can be customized to fit your type of vehicle better. When your vehicle's shift lever is in the reverse position, the screen automatically switches to the rear view camera; the purple/white wire of the included harness must be connected to the vehicle's reverse lamp circuit for automatic video switching.

Audio & Tuner

The Dynamic Reality Amp 2 gives you 17W (RMS) x 4ch / 55 (Peak) x 4ch of power, so you can play music as loudly or softly as you like with clarity and detail. The amp has 47% less internal resistance than conventional units, for increased output and clear, natural sound at any volume.
10-Band EQ: You can select from a variety of preset EQ curves. Select from R&B, Rock, Pop, Dance, Hip-Hop, Electronica, Jazz, Soul, Country, Custom, & Off. The Custom EQ preset mode allows you to tailor the sound to your personal preference with its 10-band graphic equalizer.
ExtraBass: Activate ExtraBass at the touch of a button for an instant, low-end boost. Unlike conventional bass boosters, ExtraBass minimizes distortion at all volume levels by automatically adjusting frequency and gain to their optimal positions.
The radio features 5 memory bands to store and receive AM/FM stations. You can store up to 6 presets each in FM1, FM2, FM3, AM1 and AM2 (total: 18 FM/12 AM). Preset tuning can be done manually or automatically.

Verdict

Sony XAV AX 100 is a good purchase at Rs 26990 which comes with Android auto and apple car play when you compare it to the other car infotainment systems which has similar features. Its definitely been a good buy for my Ignis which I refer to others.

Maruti suzuki Ignis - A premium car from Maruti???

Maruti suzuki Ignis - A premium car from Maruti???

I bought my ignis in April and its been almost 3 months have cranked up a few Km to review my car which is sort of priced premium but is is it worth the price? Let's check it out.

Specifications

Engines

1248 cc, Diesel, 74 bhp @ 4000 RPM power
1197 cc, Petrol, 82 bhp @ 6000 RPM power

Gearboxes

5-speed, Automatic, Front Wheel Drive
5-speed, Manual, Front Wheel Drive

Seating Capacity

5 seater

Design :

This car is designed for the "MILLENIALS" or atleast that's what maruti wants us to believe anyways this is a car which either you love it or hate it and there's nothing in between and I just bought it for the former. Its a young and quirky design which some may find it weird.
On the outside the Ignis is well proportioned, and extremely distinct. There is simply no other car on the market that looks remotely like the Ignis does! It's quirky, and slightly weird - and I like that! The front grille with its integrated headlamp clusters is well finished, and forms the signature of the face, and indeed the overall design. The metal sculpting on the sides is modern and emphasizes the car's upright stance. This is further enhanced by the clamshell-style raised hood. The C-pillar is very sharply angled - and the tailgate turns down sharply to a straight slab of metal to give you a very distinct look and shape at the back. The taillights are too flat and 2-dimensional and is the only sore point in what's otherwise a very well executed design.

Ignis Car in Silky Silver Color

Price :

I bought mine for 6.5 lakh on road Bangalore for Petrol Delta variant

Engine Alpha Zeta Zeta Automatic Delta Delta Automatic Sigma
Petrol 6.69 5.75 6.30 5.19 5.74 4.59
Diesel 7.80 6.91 7.46 6.39 6.94

* All prices are in Lakhs and is ex-showroom Delhi

Performance and handling :

Both the 1.2 L petrol and 1.3 L diesel engines have been known for their decent performance and it continues with the Ignis as well. The petrol variant is zippy considering the less weight of the car, but the steering system does not inspire confidence at higher speed. The cabin in fairly silent and insulated, I often found myself guessing whether the engine was on. The handling is quite elegant due to smaller turn radius and well proportioned dimensions.

 Mileage :

Maruti Ignis mileage figures range at 20.89 kmpl in the petrol version and 26.80 kmpl in the diesel version (all figures ARAI certified).
Realistically I am getting a mileage of 14-16 when I crawl around within city and 19-20 when I hit the highway

Interior :

The Maruti Ignis interior is finished in dual-tone Black and Ivory shades. The illuminated instrument cluster with carbon fibre texture on louvers and speedometer is delightful. The infotainment system gets smartphone connectivity experience with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and Mirror Link - a first-in-segment feature on the top end Alpha. You get a mediocre player on the delta and zeta, I changed mine to Sony XAV AX 100, which I got it at a decent price of 26K. The headroom and leg room for the front and rear occupants is praiseworthy. The boot capacity at 265 litre is also acceptable and it can be extended with 60:40 rear split. The cockpit-styled AC Panel, AC switches and EDM-inspired illumination in the speedometer are a few fresh things that Ignis offers.

Safety:

It is one aspect where Maruti has truly excelled. Maruti Ignis specifications include dual front airbags, seatbelts with pre-tensioner and force limiter (PTFL), and Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) as standard fitments. In addition, ISOFIX Anchorage - a child seat restraint system - is also offered as a standard feature with the entire Ignis variant lineup.

Verdict :

Maruti Ignis, with its emphasis on safety, sufficiently good ride quality and slightly premium pricing, won't disappoint most buyers.  It is an excellent product developed for city driving, pre-dominantly.

Tale of Sony XPERIA XZ Premium: A beautiful but over priced smartphone with excellent performance

IS Sony xperia xz premium worth the price?

When you hear about a smartphone that comes with 4K HDR display, sports a camera that can capture ultra slow-motion videos, and is powered by the brand-new Snapdragon 835 SoC, wouldn't you feel tempted to check it out?

Design and Display
I can't recall a smartphone from Sony that didn't score well on the look and feel factor. Sony XPERIA XZ Premium is no different. It is sleek and classy. The body of the smartphone is completely made of glass coupled with metallic edges on top and bottom. And combination of glass and metal makes the smartphone look all the more premium.
Its a fingerprint magnet for sure just like HTC U11/S8.

Specifications

Sony XPERIA XZ premium is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 SoC, paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Users who want more storage can also install microSD cards of up to 256GB. The smartphone runs on Android 7.1 Nougat out-of-the-box and its connectivity options include everything from 4G LTE to USB Type-C, with a 3,230mAh battery (having Quick Charge 3.0 support) rounding off the spec sheet.

Camera

Sony XPERIA XZ Premium has a 19MP rear camera with OIS, PDAF and LED flash. Having a sensor size of 1/2.3", the smartphone's camera is capable of recording 4K resolution video at 30fps, as well as HD quality super slow-motion video at 960fps. There's also a 13MP front-facing snapper, which can record videos in Full HD resolution.
The camera app also comes with various other features like AR effect, 4K wide, Panorama, Sound photo and Creative effect. We tried all the effects on the device and the AR and Creative effects. With AR effect, you can click pictures with various themes on it.

Battery performance

Sony XPERIA XZ Premium packs a 3,230mAh non-removable battery.Even with usage which involved watching native videos, 4K content on YouTube, social media, browsing the web, listening to music it lasted almost an entire day.
One feature that deserves a mention is its Stamina Mode. Whenever the phone's battery levels hit 15 percent, you can switch on the Stamina Mode that closes all battery draining apps running in the background and turns data off. The mode ensures that the leftover battery of the device lasts for a long time before the phone shuts down. Also, the phone doesn't take very long to charge, considering it supports Quick Charging.

Verdict

There are a number of things that we found very impressive about Sony XPERIA XZ Premium. The smartphone has a beautiful design and a superb display. The performance is simply excellent and it comes with features like slow motion videos. Over that, it's a visual treat to watch 4K content on it. If
these are the features that you are looking for in a device, then you should go for it provided you don't bother paying the premium for the same. However, in case you want to look at other options in the same price bracket, then you might want to check out Samsung Galaxy S8, Google pixel, LG G6 or IPhone 7

JBL GO - A worthy Bluetooth speaker?

Let's find it out......

JBL Go is Harman's latest micro-sized Bluetooth speaker was announced at CES. I bought it to  find out if it is worth the money, even though its price is quite low.

Price: $23.3/Rs 1699 for the blue variant

Design and specifications

I've always liked the design of Harman's products, and the JBL Go is no different. It may not have the flair of Red Dot award winners such as the E40BT headphones or the Clip, but the JBL Go's minimalistic boxy design is pleasant in its own way. I bought the blue variant for review but the JBL Go is also available in seven other colours: black, red, orange, pink, grey, blue, yellow and teal. The dimensions of 82.50 x 29.95 x 67.91mm mean it will even fit inside a trouser pocket, though the weight of 222g is on the higher side.
Harman has used same high quality materials on the body of the JBL Go as it does on its other products. The tough plastic has a rubber finish on all edges and the rear. The front consists of a perforated grille through which the sound emanates. The top edge houses the controls for power, Bluetooth, volume up, volume down, and speakerphone. The markings are of the same colour as the body and as are result they are not visible in the dark. Thankfully, they are slightly raised making it easy to feel for them instead.

The 3.5mm input jack, Micro-USB port and microphone are all on the right edge. There are two unusually large holes for a lanyard to loop through on the left. It would have been nice if Harman had included a lanyard cable in the box. There are JBL logo in bold orange lettering on the front and rear.

Image result for jbl go
The JBL Go has a single 40mm driver which can operate in a frequency range of 180Hz to 20KHz, which means it cannot achieve really low-frequency sub-bass sounds. Pairing the speaker to any device using Bluetooth is a fairly easy process. The JBL Go can hold on to the connection at distances of up to 3m if there is no obstruction in between.

Performance
Firstly, it can get really loud for a speaker of its size. In my testing it managed to easily fill up a 200 sq.ft. room with power to spare. Additionally, the mids, highs and the bass sounds above 180Hz are well detailed.

If you want a Bluetooth speaker to enhance your laptop's sound, the JBL Go could be the best bet. The good mid-range response ensures that dialogue in movies is clearly audible. Even so, like most Bluetooth speakers, it fires only from one side and one cannot expect to hear a multidimensional sound. The JBL Go can last at least 5 hours on a single charge, which is not great but it should suffice for most practical purposes.

Verdict : Its a good purchase at the price point but if you are  a bass head you are better of buying Logitech x 100/50

One plus 5 - " a hit or miss"

Here we go with another "Flagship killer" or is it by One plus

Let's get the specs out of the way
Weight: 153g
Dimensions: 154.2 x 74.1 x 7.25mm
OS: Android 7.1.1 Nougat
Screen size: 5.5-inch
Resolution: 1920 x 1080
CPU: Snapdragon 835
RAM: 6GB or 8GB of RAM
Storage: 64/128GB
Battery: 3,300mAh
Rear camera: 16MP + 20MP dual lens
Front camera: 16MP

Design

For all the apple lovers oneplus 5 would look like a copy of iPhone 7 plus but personally it looks a tad less premium than iPhone 7 plus but still a worthy product considering its price of $479/Rs 32999 for the 6 GB variant and $539/Rs 37999 for the 8 GB variant.
Oneplus 5 comes in 2 colors namely slate grey and midnight black

Slate Gray
Midnight Black

Display

The OnePlus 5 has a 5.5-inch Full HD OPTIC AMOLED screen that looks nice

The big headline display-wise is that OnePlus hasn’t decided to upgrade to a QHD resolution screen for the OnePlus 5.
Instead you get a 5.5-inch Full HD AMOLED display here. It seems to be the exact same tech we saw on the OnePlus 3T, and some will inevitably be disappointed by that.

Camera

First OnePlus phone to feature a dual-lens camera
16MP + 20MP lens on rear offer lossless zoom feature
16MP front-facing camera
Perhaps OnePlus’s crowning glory, the camera has been through a number of improvements for the OnePlus 5. OnePlus has been criticized in the past for its lack of innovation in this area, and it has  now delivered a dual-lens sensor. The main camera lens has a super-wide aperture of f/1.7, which ensures that photos are bright without being overexposed. The telephoto lens then has an aperture of f/2.6.
That said, it’s not going to give you the same level of zoom quality as a DSLR, and it’s not going to revolutionize the way phone cameras work – but it’s a very useful feature to have when you want to shoot objects that are far away.
The OnePlus 5 rear camera also comes with a Portrait mode, which allows you to get beautiful shots of people using the two-lens setup. It means you can place your subject in the foreground of the image and then blur out the background, complete with attractive 'bokeh' effects.
This is especially useful when you’re taking shots of people, but you can use it on objects as well. It allows you to create some interesting effects, but you can’t make as many tweaks to the image after you’ve taken

Battery life

3,300mAh battery plus greater optimization gives solid battery life
Can last around a day with auto brightness on
Battery life is one of the few areas where a flagship phone can stand out from its rivals in 2017, and the OnePlus 5 needs to be able to survive at least a full day on a single charge.
On paper, compared to the OnePlus 3T the OnePlus 5 looks like a downgrade, with the former sporting a 3,400mAh battery while the latter features a 3,300mAh battery.

The processing tech used inside this phone is newer though, and much more efficient in terms of power consumption, and we think you’ll notice that in day to day battery life.
The OnePlus 5 will keep pace with a lot of the devices you’ll find on the market today.

There’s fast-charging tech here – OnePlus’s version is called Dash Charge – which means you’ll be able to pump some juice into your phone very quickly if you need to. OnePlus continues to claim that it's fast enough to get you a full charge in the time it takes you to get a shower, but that’s not strictly true.
Unless you're taking a long and relaxing bubble bath, you’ll likely only get enough charge for a few hours – but it’s certainly better than your phone dying on you when you need it.
For those times when you really are gasping for battery life the OnePlus 5 also comes with a battery-saving mode; we found that this really restricted what apps we could open, but it will prolong battery life on the phone and that’s all you need when you’re clinging onto the last dregs of power.
OnePlus isn’t offering the best battery life on the market here, but it’s a similar level to most of the flagship competition, and unless you’re a power user you’ll probably get through a whole day of using the OnePlus 5 and still have a little leftover before you plug in overnight.

Verdict
Oneplus 5 is a good upgrade if you are coming from a oneplus 2 or any other phones which is 2 years old, but its flagship killer status sounds a bit odd given the fact its price is getting higher with every year, its a good buy but not a great one.
