Switched
from iPhone to Android? Want to know how to move your stuff from iPhone to
Android
Your contacts are linked to your email account. So
you may have them stored in iCloud, or in your Gmail account (if you're using
Gmail). Here's how to find out:
1.Tap Settings.
2.Tap Calendar.
3.Tap Default Account.
If your default account is under Gmail then all you
need to do is sign into your Android device using your Google account.
1.Open iCloud.com in Safari.
2.Open Address Book.
3.Click the Gear icon and choose Select All.
4.Click the Gear icon and choose Export vCard.
The VCF file will be download to your Mac. Now open
Gmail, select Contacts > More > Import and select the file you
downloaded.
How to transfer from iPhone to Android: Moving Mail
and Messages from iPhone to Android
Moving Mail is easy. You sign in with your Google ID
to get any emails in Gmail. Or you sign in with your iCloud account details, or
your other email address, and you can read your mail messages.
It's pretty easy to
move your snaps from iPhoto to Google Photos, using the Google Photos iOS app.
1.Download Google
Photos from the App Store on your iPhone.
2.Open Google Photos.
3.Sign in with your
Google Account.
4.Choose Backup &
Sync. (It's best to leave 'Use mobile data to back up' set as Off unless you
have unlimited data.)
5.Tap Continue.
Transfer your music
using the Google Music app and by installing Music Manager for Mac. This app
(installed in macOS) transfers all your music in iTunes to Google's cloud.
Then you can stream all
of your music from Google Play Music on your Android phone.
You can download AnyTrans
if you want to preserve any old messages but you will have to pay for it. It
will also take care of all your other media. Moving Messages is difficult but
you can do so by following the below steps.
1. Plug your iPhone
into your computer. Once you’ve plugged your iPhone in, your computer should
launch into the iTunes application.
3. Click the "This
Computer" checkbox under the “Backup Location” settings.
4. Click Backup to
backup your device to your computer.
7. Find the text
messaging file. Unfortunately, Apple doesn’t make this entirely easy for you.
You’re looking for the following file:
3d0d7e5fb2ce288813306e4d4636395e047a3d28. Search for this file in the folder
(copy and paste helps).
8. Copy the file to
your computer’s desktop. You’ll need to move this file to either your Android
phone’s internal memory or the SD card, if your device has an SD slot. Having
the file on the desktop will save time when you try to find it later.
9. Plug your Android device into your computer, and open it with either Finder (OSX) or Windows Explorer.
10. Place the text
messaging file on your Android phone. Move the file, which you placed on your
desktop in a previous step, to either the main folder on your device’s internal
memory or on the main folder on your SD card if your phone has one.
11. Unplug your Android
phone from your computer.
12. Download iSMS2droid
from Google Play. Android can’t natively read the file generated by your
iPhone, so you’ll need a Google Play app to convert the file to an Android
friendly format. From the Play Store on your Android phone, download and
install the iSMS2droid app.
13. Launch iSMS2droid
and click "Select iPhone SMS database."
14. Locate the text
messaging file on your device, and click on it.
16. Tap "start SMS
Backup & Restore" which will take you to the Google Play listing for
the SMS Backup and Restore app.
18. Tap Restore.
19. Locate your
iSMS2droid file, then tap OK.
